The ingredients needed to make Dal Makhani:
  1. Prepare 1/2 cup whole black Urad dal
  2. Get 1/4 cup whole green Moong dal
  3. Get 1/4 cup Chole (Garbanzo seeds)
  4. Get 1 medium onion chopped
  5. Get 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  6. Make ready 1 Tbsp ginger garlic paste
  7. Prepare 1 green chili chopped
  8. Make ready 1/3 tsp turmeric powder
  9. Prepare 1 tsp red chilli powder
  10. Prepare 1 tsp salt
  11. Prepare 1 bay leaf
  12. Prepare 1 inch cinnamon stick
  13. Take 2 green cardamom
  14. Prepare 1 black cardamom
  15. Prepare 2 cloves
  16. Make ready 2 tsp fresh cream
  17. Prepare 3 black pepper corn
  18. Take 1 tsp cumin seeds
  19. Prepare 1/2 tsp crushed kasuri methi
  20. Get 2 Tbsp ghee
Instructions to make Dal Makhani:
  1. Mix all seeds. Clean and wash several times as long as get transparent water. Soak 8-9 hrs or overnight.
  2. Deacnt soaked water. Take fresh water,dal and turmeric powder. Pressure cook for 5 whistles. Allow to cool naturally.
  3. Heat ghee in wok. Add cumin seeds and let spluttet. Add whole garam masals and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
  4. Further add chopped onion, bay leaf and saute till onions are transparent.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste, chopped green chilli and cook on low flame. Mix the red chili powder and mix well.
  6. Take chopped tomatoes and salt and cook till soft. Mix the cooked dal and 2 cups water. Bring a boil.
  7. Add 2 Tbsp cream and and 1/2 tsp crushed kasoori methi. Cook for 7-8 minutes.
  8. Bring down. Several hot with zeera rice /parathas.
