How to Prepare Favorite Dal Makhani

Hey everyone, it’s Louise, welcome to my recipe site. Today, we’re going to prepare a distinctive dish, dal makhani. One of my favorites. This time, I am going to make it a little bit unique. This will be really delicious.

Dal Makhani is one of the most popular of current trending foods on earth. It’s easy, it is fast, it tastes delicious. It’s enjoyed by millions every day. They are fine and they look fantastic. Dal Makhani is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

To begin with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few ingredients. You can have dal makhani using 15 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.

The ingredients needed to make Dal Makhani:
  1. Get 1.5 cup black urad dal
  2. Take 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  3. Prepare 3 medium size tomatoes
  4. Take 1 tsp kasuri methi
  5. Take 1 tsp cumin powder
  6. Make ready 1 tsp coriander powder
  7. Get 1.5 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  8. Take 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  9. Prepare 1.5 tsp Red chilli powder
  10. Make ready 1 tsp garam masala powder
  11. Get 2 dry red chillies
  12. Get Pinch asafoetida
  13. Make ready 5-6 tbsp butter
  14. Make ready as needed Water
  15. Get As needed Ghee for cooking
Steps to make Dal Makhani:
  1. Wash the black urad dal throughly for 3-4 times (scrub it well with your palm), soak it with enough water overnight. Pressure cook the dal with enough water on a low flame for 5 whistles. Save the water in which the dal was boiled.
  2. Heat ghee in a kadhai, add the dry red chillies, ginger garlic paste, asafoetida and cook it well for 3-4 mins.
  3. Next lower the flame, add turmeric powder & red chilli powder, add very little water so that the masala doesn't get burnt, cook it for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Make a puree of 3 tomatoes,and add it to the masala, cook it well for 5-6 mins in a medium flame.
  5. Next add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder & salt and cook the masala well in a low flame for 5-7 mins, add little water so that masala doesn't stick to the pan.
  6. Now add the boiled dal, mix it well with the masala, add the water in which it was boiled, add some butter, mix it well. Now cover and allow it cook for another 30-40 mins. Stir occasionally in between, add some hot water if the water dries out.
  7. Lastly add some dry roasted kasuri methi, garam masala powder, some more butter and again cover and cook it for another 7-10 minutes and it's done. Garnish with some cream and coriander leaves.
