Instructions to make Dal Fry:
Wash and soak dal for minimum 30 minutes
In a pressure cooker cook dal with water salt and turmeric powder. For 2 whistles.once done keep aside
In a kadai heat ghee and oil, add cumin seeds and hing once they splutter add ginger, garlic, chopped chillies and allow them to fry nicely
Add chopped onion and cook till soft, add chopped tomatoes and salt cover and cook
When tomatoes are soft add all dry masalas except garam masala and cook nicely.
Churn dal nicely to make it smooth, now add dal to the masala
Add little water to adjust consistency
Add garam masala, cover and cook for 4-5 minutes
Once done switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves and butter, Serve with Rice or tandoori roti.
